overview-icon Client Overview

The National Animal Welfare Trust a.k.a NAWT is a prominent charity in the UK that focuses on promoting the well-being of animals. They focus on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals that require assistance, guaranteeing that each one is given thorough care and an opportunity for a fresh start. NAWT employs a dedicated team of professionals to create a safe and happy environment for all animals.

overview-icon2 The Challenge

NAWT encountered major obstacles as a result of an outdated IT system that could not keep up with their expanding requirements, especially in terms of securely handling data across more than 10 geographical locations, and facilitating remote work. Relying on physical servers based in their Watford HQ was restricting their ability to adapt to modern working methodologies, and presented issues in enforcing compliance policies and security protocols without severely hampering user productivity.

Renaissance's Expertise in Action

1. Cloud Migration

  • Entra ID Implementation: The Welfare Trust’s IT infrastructure was moved to a cloud-native This was anchored on Microsoft’s Entra ID, a secure, centralised identity management solution. It meant all users could access resources seamlessly and securely, whether at geographical sites or remotely.
  • On-Premises Server Independence: The migration to Entra ID ended the dependence on on-premises servers, leading to reduced maintenance overhead while simultaneously improving accessibility and security.
  • Cost Optimisation: Renaissance successfully implemented Microsoft Nonprofit grants and discount solutions based on eligibility. The Welfare Trust was able to use these grants strategically to reduce the costs of cloud infrastructure and productivity licensing.

3. Security Measures

  • Mobile Device Management (MDM/MAM): Helps to ensure that all IT Endpoints are protected from security risks and meet compliance standards. Company and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) devices & applications are managed and secured with MDM / MAM solutions to enable staff/volunteers to work securely from their respective devices, while management can rest easy in the knowledge that the organisation’s data is safe.
  • 24×7 Security Operations Centre(SOC): A dedicated team of Cyber Security Analysts monitor security feeds from multiple platforms and asset types, securing NAWT’s digital assets.
  • Managed Detection and Response (MDR): Through the SOC team, we  provide Managed Detection & Response services, monitoring and responding to threats at any time of day or night.
  • Microsoft 365 Security Monitoring: Ensures security for the entire Microsoft 365 suite – including email and collaboration tools.
  • Firewall Security Monitoring (SIEM): Real-time monitoring of firewall logs, checking for indicators of network-level attacks or compromise.
  • Phishing Simulation and Security Awareness Training: We conduct regular phishing simulations for end users to learn about ever-evolving Increased staff awareness reduces the risk of successful phishing and other types of cyber attack.
  • Dark Web Monitoring: Routine data searches on the dark web monitor look for signs of compromised accounts or personally identifiable data (PID) being sold or shared by criminals. Breaches or leaks can be quickly identified and mitigated
  • Vulnerability Scanning: Our regular scans detect known security weaknesses and misconfigurations on NAWT’s devices and networks, allowing us to take action before they’re exploited.
